Study and office lighting: lights for concentration

In a work environment such as a studio or an office, lighting plays a very important role, being able to condition people's physical and psychological well-being. Good lighting limits visual fatigue and facilitates the performance of various activities, which always involve reading and writing, on paper documents or screens and monitors.

What light to put in the office?

Natural light should always be exploited, arranging the workstation appropriately. The source of natural light must reach the side of the desk, and in some moments it needs to be shielded by curtains, to moderate its intensity and avoid reflections. Artificial light sources supplement natural light or replace it completely, depending on the time of day and the season. In principle, there should always be a central light source, while the workstations are illuminated by desk lamps. The various light points are used in combination or alternatively, according to need. Even the color of the light must be chosen carefully, preferring a slightly cooler light than that which would be used at home.

How should the artificial light be positioned in relation to the desk?

The central light source provides diffused illumination of the room. The desk must then be equipped with orientable and adjustable lamps, always located laterally, if possible on the opposite side to that of the dominant hand.

Studio lighting at home, for effective smart working

To work well in smart working it is necessary to have a dedicated space and to furnish and equip it appropriately. As in a studio or office away from home, the main element is a fairly large desk, accompanied by an ergonomic chair. If possible, natural light, as already mentioned, should reach the side of the workstation. Also in this case, taking care of the lighting is essential for working well, promoting concentration and removing stress. It is worth replacing or integrating existing light points to obtain more adequate lighting.

LED office lighting: savings and efficiency

LED lamps represent the best solution for lighting work environments, providing excellent performance with energy consumption that is enormously lower than that of other types of lamps.

Examples of office lighting

The main lighting, coming from the ceiling, can consist of one or more ceiling lights, or suspended chandeliers. The number of bulbs used naturally varies with the size of the room, but also depends on the model chosen. The workstation can be equipped with a table lamp but also with a wall light on the side wall. A floor lamp can be indispensable for illuminating a shaded area or corner of the studio or office.

If you are setting up a new studio or office, or the lighting solutions in use are no longer adequate, on the Lumicom website you can find many products, to satisfy any need. The essential and modern style of the available models facilitates combinations and the creation of customized solutions.
