JUST IN TIME PRODUCTION TO INCREASE EFFICIENCY

JUST IN TIME PRODUCTION TO INCREASE EFFICIENCY

"Don't ask us how many items we have in stock, ask us how much we are able to produce"

Do you have any idea how many new and fully functional products are destroyed every year because they are unsold? Have you ever wondered how many hectares of land are occupied, or rather consumed, to make room for warehouses whose purpose is the storage of warehouse items? In Waypoint we have chosen a different path, perhaps more difficult, but certainly in line with what is a cry of alarm that our planet has been screaming for too long, unheard by most. In the company we have decided to focus on a "just in time" (JIT) production, which consists in a production in sync with demand and aims to coordinate the total flows of materials and production to streamline the value creation chain, increasing its efficiency.

Since 2016 in Waypoint we have started a human resources training plan. Today we are able to produce all the components of the lighting product at home, including LED boards, without having to go outside to purchase any component whatsoever. This choice has allowed us to reduce our warehouse by moving towards a just in time production. From an ethical point of view, the warehouse in Waypoint is an ancient, outdated tool. Occupying volume inside our warehouses, or even consuming more soil, is something that no longer has a logic, something that our planet can no longer bear. Exasperating production risks creating unsold goods that will turn into waste, into scrap is exactly what we have decided to eliminate at Waypoint, by adhering to the guidelines of the Ellen McArthur Foundation of which Banca Intesa, our financial partner, which annually carries out a screening of the our company giving us a classification with respect to the reduction of waste production.

The just-in-time production of our company also allows us to guarantee our consumers articles that can always be customized according to individual needs. From the color of the product, to the length of the cable, passing through the type of light source, you will always be free to customize your lighting item to make it perfect with respect to your home decor, unique compared to the already wide range of variants provided in the catalog.

Our company produces what is needed, not one more piece, not one less piece. So, as our Project Leader Alberto Baesso always repeats, “Don't ask us how many items we have in stock, ask us how much we are able to produce”.
